Instructions

1️⃣ Prep & Marinate the Tofu

  • Press the tofu (wrap in a towel, place a heavy pan on top for 10-15 mins to remove excess water).
  • Cut into bite-sized cubes.
  • Toss with salt & garlic powder, let sit for 15 mins (this adds flavor!).

2️⃣ Make the Flour Mix & Batter

  • In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients (flour, corn flour, spices).
  • Split in half—one half for dry coating, the other for wet batter.
  • Mix half of the flour mix with 125ml water to form a smooth batter.

3️⃣ Coat & Fry the Tofu

  • Dip tofu cubes in the wet batter, then coat with the dry flour mix.
  • Heat oil in a pan (medium heat) and fry tofu for 3-5 mins per side until golden & crispy.
  • Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

4️⃣ Make the Garlic Soy Sauce

  • In a pan, melt vegan butter over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic, sauté for 30 secs (don’t burn it!).
  • Stir in soy sauce, maple syrup, and sriracha. Simmer for 2-3 mins until slightly thickened.
  • Toss fried tofu in the sauce until fully coated.

5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!

  • Eat them straight up (warning: addictive!) or pair with rice, noodles, or a fresh salad.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped scallions for extra flair.

Notes

✨ Extra Crispy? Double-fry the tofu! Fry once, let cool, then fry again for max crunch.

✨ Baking Option? For a healthier version, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 20-25 mins, flipping halfway.

✨ Sauce Too Thick? Add a splash of water or veggie broth to thin it out.

✨ Make It Gluten-Free: Use tamari instead of soy sauce and gluten-free flour.
